George Ross

George Ross is Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. The ministry is charged with strengthening Ontario as a leading, innovation-based economy and society. 

Before assuming his current post, Mr. Ross held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister of Field Services at the Ministry of Natural Resources.  In this capacity, he led one of the largest operational divisions in the Ontario Public Service, responsible for delivering programs and resource management to diverse regions and stakeholder communities, including industry, environment organizations, municipalities and aboriginal leaders.

Mr. Ross holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and certificates in Business Administration and Human Resources Management from Ryerson and Queen’s Universities.  He is also a graduate of the advanced program in Human Resources Management at the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto.

He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Innovation Trust in August 2006.
